I have recently been in Sweden at the International workshop for experienced organic advisers for a two day meeting on the subject of On-farm protein sources – cropping and feeding in Skåne, South of Sweden (18-19 June, 2012). This was an excellent chance to meet other adviser in my field from Denmark, Germany, England, Holland, Switzerland and Sweden.
The aim of this
European network is to establish an experience sharing group, where senior
organic advisers can meet and share knowledge and experiences. Results of new
research and development projects as well as the participants experience will
lead to new ideas and solutions within a certain topic. Hopefully the workshop
in Sweden was a starting point for a valuable network for the participants.
I gave a presentation in the field on the first day about the practicalities of growing lupin for protein production in these northern areas. On the second day I gave a Power Point presentation on novel legume mixes in grass swards. ( see deelgates photo above)
